Re: Updated drivers for Lumia WOA

If you install a new WIM then you will automatically get all the latest drivers. I didn't know you could inject drivers into a live operating system using DISM? You might be better installing them manually or backing up and refreshing your OS. Soon I'm uploading a light version of WOA. Which store a...

Re: Windows 10 Lite for Rpi3 and Lumia 950XL (WIP!)

Thanks for the feedback - have posted some updates here: https://discourse.pi64.win/t/windows-10-lite-for-rpi3-and-lumia-950xl-wip/418/7 WSL1 is probably too slow for any serious practical use on WOA? How might the performance of a Linux app compare to say an x86 app? I doubt it could even access th...

Windows 10 Lite for Rpi3 and Lumia 950XL (WIP!)

Am currently working on producing a Lite WOA image for Rpi3 B+ and Lumia 950 XL using NTLite software for the purpose of reducing the installation size and freeing up CPU/RAM resources for a faster desktop experience - with x86 WOW emulation in mind, in particular. Does anyone have any requests/sugg...

Re: Lumia 1520 WOA?

It has a Snapdragon 800, which is 32-bit (ARMv7).

WOA, however, requires a 64-bit ARMv8-based processor

Dual boot Android or Linux?

I wonder if it's possible to dual boot Android or Linux? I found out that BCDEDIT is no longer locked down in 1903 - though that seems secondary to a primary bootloader that has the Developer menu, etc. I already tried to boot the following using the ARM64 EFI file but it failed: http://www.rodsbook...

Re: WSL 2 on Lumia 950

Not working for me either on the very latest Insider - but I noticed the bootloader is "locked"* so there's not much we can do: *running bcdedit reports some issue I'm wondering if I install WOA and choose to NOT keep windows 10 Mobile that the deployment might work differently and allow us to mess ...

Re: WSL 2 on Lumia 950

Has anyone tried WSL2 on RPi3 or Snapdragon laptop to confirm it definitely works? And have you tried it on 1909 feature update as opposed to Insider on the Lumia? Is there a way of building a WIM and sysprepping it first before using WOA Deployer? https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-hardware/m...

Re: CPU speed only 0.65 GHz on 950!?

FALSE ALARM! Somebody else already confirmed that the big cores are not working in the 950. As for the XL, I just checked more detail under CPU and it still lists the base speed as 1.96 GHz and fluctuates above that of the small cores.

Re: CPU speed only 0.65 GHz on 950!?

My 950 XL is now also suffering from reduced CPU speed under WOA - but it didn't start out that way - only after a few installs of different versions: https://github.com/WOA-Project/WOA-Deployer-Lumia/issues/48 Must be something to do with this: "The performance-driven A57 cores will run at a clock ...

Re: 950 failed - new 950 XL in the post - how to guarantee success?

Here's an update on my adventure with few more pointers: 1) My 950 XL has arrived now so I'm ensuring I update Windows Mobile first - has to go through about 5-6 updates followed by restarts, taking several hours to complete. 2) When WOA Deployer completed 1903 on my normal 950 I had to click done b...

Re: 950 failed - new 950 XL in the post - how to guarantee success?

OMG I cannot believe this... dual boot is working: Windows 10 vs. Windows 10 phone! I simply had to boot to developer menu > mass storage (phone can be charged with most cables/adapters) > open WOA Deployer and enable dual boot via the dual boot menu. Could probably dual boot linux on this... surpri...

Re: 950 failed - new 950 XL in the post - how to guarantee success?

Some important points of note so far for other newbies (or technical authors planning to write a guide) - correct me if I'm wrong: 1) WP Internals existed before the WOA Project for unlocking older Nokia/Microsoft phones 2) For Windows 10 on ARM full desktop experience/WOA Deployer: it seems other p...

Re: 950 failed - new 950 XL in the post - how to guarantee success?

I managed to get the 950 to unlock!!! Here's what I did: 1) Having previously installed the latest Windows Phone software prior to unlocking I actually decided to click next, next (etc.) till I got to the tiles (probably doesn't actually do anything in the context of unlocking the bootloader) 2) I d...

My theory on the demise of Windows Phone...

It's suggested that Windows Phone failed because Google had more apps - in particular more important apps like Maps, Gmail, Youtube - but I don't subscribe to that theory because I have no problem finding alternative apps in the Microsoft Store that work just as good. My theory is that Microsoft and...
